The ongoing conversation between my body and spirit

I have learned to listen to my body when it is telling me things.

In my younger years, I didn’t listen much at all, and didn’t even know this might be a good thing to do.

I had non stop energy and the ability to run at a very fast speed and Get A Lot Done, and so I didn’t understand or hear my body when it was talking to me. It may have tried to communicate with me quietly and politely at first, I don’t know, because I wasn’t present to hear it. I just kept doing all the things and telling my body ‘this is what we’re doing today’. I was Type A+, I mean, I had it all under control!

I thought my body would be just fine with whatever I gave it. After all, I did get enough sleep (mostly), and I actually learned how to cook and feed myself in a somewhat healthier manner. Kinda. But I also had to work non-stop and go out with my friends and stay up too late and eat greasy food at 3am. It was fun!

Then my 30’s arrived, and suddenly my body Needed Things. Because I was all caught up in Doing and not listening, I didn’t notice at first. Until it started yelling at me. My body was in pain and things were weird. I’d been sitting happily in denial about having a body, and now it was mad at me. What did I do wrong?

This was the wake-up for me, or the beginning of it.

Besides running my own small business and running all over town for that and worrying about money and working too many hours, I was also attracting to myself lots of needy people in pain, and I was trying to heal them all. Unconsciously. What I didn’t understand was that this alone, letting others dump their pain on me - was taking a big toll on my body. I had to put that energy someplace, and not knowing any better, I tried to outrun it. I knew I had to find some new ways of doing things for myself.

I was starting to wake up to the knowing within myself that this way of being and doing things wasn’t working for me any longer. Around that time, I went to a psychic who told me to learn how to ground myself. Having no idea what she meant, I started looking for the answer myself. Even thinking about grounding was a new concept for me - I’d really never considered it.

As it will, the energy started to line up for me to my new goal of being smarter about my energy and body, and a teacher showed up, who ended up being the perfect person to teach me how to ground myself. The psychic meditation class I signed up for was fun too! Grounding myself changed my entire life and gave me a whole new way of looking at myself and my own energy. As the class continued, I learned many new tools and ways to be more conscious about my energy, and even to understand that this was a real thing.

The best part was I started to feel better, and to make some new choices for myself.

I knew how to let go of the toxic energy I’d been taking on from other people, and started to respect my own space a lot more than I had been doing. I let go of the people who merely dumped on me, and I changed other relationships so they worked better for me.

That class took place in early 1999, and as the 21st Century began, I was well on my way to training my clairvoyant ability, and learning how to see energy, and work with it. There is no way I could have found my psychic abilities and turned them on the way I have without my body’s cooperation. This step into being consciously psychic that I took has helped me to heal myself on many levels.

My body’s had to remind me from time to time that it wants to be heard, and I’ve actually gotten much better at doing so. That is a relationship I want to keep healthy and friendly.
