Agreements make the world go round

Being conscious to the agreements I've made with myself and others is part of my self care practice.

I learned about spiritual agreements in my clairvoyant training.

In my search for answers to questions and problems that had been bothering me for years, I finally signed up for a meditation class. I wanted to feel better, and I had a feeling this class could help. It did help, I loved it, and next thing I knew I’d signed up for clairvoyant training.

I was learning how to see and read energy, and I was so excited. A whole new art form was opening up for me, with all kinds of possibilities.

I didn’t yet know that what I was really looking for was myself. But I did know that I was tired of carrying so much heavy energy for others, and I didn’t know how not to carry that energy. I was aware that I was handling something that wasn’t working for me. Moreover, whatever I was doing was making me feel exhausted, bad, and sick. I kept getting colds and annoying viruses that knocked me out, and I noticed that the only time I didn’t feel guilty about saying no to anyone, was when I was sick.

This was almost 25 years ago, and to this day I’m so grateful to my younger self for choosing to do something about my bad habit of taking on the problems of the world as my personal task to solve. It wasn’t feeling good for me, and certainly not for my body. Whatever had made me believe I was supposed to take care of everyone before myself, was on its way to unraveling.

What I didn’t realize at the time was that I’d taken the first step in changing a lot of agreements that I didn’t know I had, and that didn’t work for me at all. I was just tired of it and knew that something had to change. That something was me.

Waking up to this had a magical way of lighting up the agreements I didn’t even know I had.

Becoming conscious of what I was doing with my energy helped me change many agreements, most importantly, with myself first. I didn’t have to try hard at all to do this. It happened because I started seeing myself in a new way, which led to me changing how I’d been doing things.

Most importantly, I had to start looking at the agreements I was being unconscious to, especially those in which I was expected to give away my healing energy to anyone and everyone who wanted it.

Every one of my agreements has gone through a shift, change, or update since I began the work of knowing myself. I love looking at agreements now, and often do so in readings with clients.

We have agreements with everyone and everything in our lives, especially with ourselves.

Agreements all begin in energy, spirit. We naturally adjust them as we grow and learn more about ourselves and what is true for us.

Every other agreement you have begins with the ones you have with yourself, and when you make a shift or update anything in your private personal agreements with you - everything and everyone around you has to adjust to the new you. Some people do this willingly, others throw tantrums. You can’t control any of it.

We’ve all experienced the disconnect that happens in relationships that aren’t in present time, especially with family and old friends. If you’ve changed your self image and how you see you, it’s really hard to be around anyone who keeps trying to bring back a previous version of you that you don’t fit into anymore.

It can be exhausting to play an old role - you already outgrew it, and you took your energy out of it. It simply doesn’t fit anymore, and is no longer fun or fulfilling for you.

When you change from within on purpose, you are powerful, and create big waves of change around you.

The people who can see you and cheer you on to be how you choose to be, are the ones you want to hang out with. They know how to accept and validate who and how you are, now.

Agreements are part of everything in life. When you create new agreements you want to have, you heal yourself.

As I write this, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) is getting ready to vote on a new agreement that it went on strike to achieve. SAG and AFTRA, the actor’s unions, are not far behind with their new agreements. The United Auto Workers are on strike, and workers around the USA, after suffering decades of abuse at the hands of greedy corporations, are fighting back for their fair share in all that wealth.

These are all agreements. People are waking up to the agreements that do not work for them, and are showing up to demand better agreements. In order to even do this, we have to demand better agreements within ourselves. That’s the waking up part.

What about the agreements that created the economic system we have? Capitalism is an agreement. It is by no means the only way of having an economy, and as we can all see, capitalism cares only about - capital, unsurprisingly. Capitalism did not invent human ingenuity, invention, or drive. Those are the myths with which it sold itself to us, along with promises of status, hierarchy, and more.

Questions I ask myself about agreements in my life:

  1. Am I agreeing to be unconscious to some energy or other - ie; to not see something because it’s not nice or polite, and might make others uncomfortable if I speak out?

  2. Do I really want to still hold onto old out of date agreements because of the experiences, memories, nostalgia, or pictures that are attached to them?

  3. Am I afraid that by looking at and updating agreements I have with others that they will get angry, not like me anymore, or tell others I’m a mean bad person?

  4. Was I included in an agreement I’m not actually in agreement to be part of, and I wanted to be seen as ‘nice’ so didn’t back out? Kind of like a passive agreement, but still in it.

  5. Did I outgrow my agreement with ____________? (Which could be a person, a group, job, activity, way of seeing myself… etc.)

  6. What agreements do I want to create that are really fun for me?

Meditation is a fantastic tool to create change, from within.

Meditation, and other ways of getting to know yourself, helps you to make honest clear truthful agreements, first of all with you. It’s always a good investment in yourself to find and practice something that helps you know the most important person in your life - yourself.

Change yourself from within and you contribute to the health of the entire planet, without having to take on all of the pain, fear, and other rough energies.

As a healer, teacher, artist, psychic, and spiritual activist - doing this has helped me be more effective in bringing what I am here to bring and give, without burning myself out in the process. Making conscious agreements is for me first, and it helps others to know and understand what my boundaries are. This is a peaceful and creative way to work.

I exist in agreement with all the weird chaos, destruction, and agony that is undoubtedly part of the texture of being alive.
