Have a commitment to your own spiritual growth

Your commitment to your spirit is the most important commitment you’ll ever make.

You are the one who is in charge of your own spiritual growth, and it’s your personal business as to how you choose to grow. Your spiritual growth leads to all other growth. You get to decide what this means for you, and how you will go about having it.

It’s important to remember that you can’t do this for anyone else. You can certainly inspire others to do their own work, and offer help when requested to do so. Everyone has to make their own choices about personal growth, and you can’t force anyone else to decide to grow. Perhaps a first step toward your own growth would be to allow others to take responsibility for theirs.

Have you been waiting for others in your life to be ready to take a step forward, to change and grow, before you’ll do so yourself? Maybe you’ve been cheering from the sidelines, encouraging those around you to be fearless and commit to themselves.

A commitment is an agreement.

You can choose to make conscious agreements with yourself and others. An agreement can be a promise to yourself about your growth.. You can make a commitment to another person or group of people. There is commitment to an idea or ideal, commitment to an action, a personal style.

Commitment by itself is not good or bad. One could be committed to an idea that others find harmful. However, that idea might be something you desire, such as finding your own answers and freedom.

Being ready to have this in your life doesn’t mean everyone around you is also ready. If you’re waiting for others to get a grip and see the light you have been trying for so many years to show them, you may be holding yourself back. Do your own work, and let others worry about how they will do it for themselves. They may not want to or be ready to, and that is okay.

What it all comes down to is: are you going to do your work?

Or will you use them as an excuse to avoid doing your work? If you’ve been waiting for the right time, for conditions to be perfect, perhaps it’s time to examine whether you are just facing a whole lot of resistance to change. A lot of it may not even be yours.

Though it isn’t yours to worry about, remember that when you change, others around you also have to change. It’s ironic, really! You may have been running around for years trying to get everyone to see the light outside, when it was there inside of you the whole time.

As soon as you find it for yourself, you instantly create change, without doing anything other than working on you. By healing yourself, you become the healing you may have been in effort about creating out in the world. You won’t know how powerful you truly are until you do this.

“The people who say you are not facing reality actually mean that you are not facing their idea of reality. Reality is above all else a variable. With a firm enough commitment, you can sometimes create a reality which did not exist before.” -Margaret Halsey
